Taegu South Korea is the largest city in the northern Yeongnam region located in southeast South Korea north-northwest of Pusan. Though enjoying the position of being the Korea's 3rd largest city, it still retains its countryside feel. Taegu Korea is best described as an independent metropolitan city, it is a transportation center, a major industrial center, and a primary point for an extensive agricultural and mining region. The Taegu map is known for its important textile and machine industries. Throughout the Korean War Taegu South Korea formed a major fortress in the United Nations border defense of the Busan beachhead, and in Aug., 1950, it became the temporary capital of Korea. Even its name was romanized as Taeku and Taikyu while it’s officially called Taegu Metropolitan City.
Taegu map has one of the most popular and beautiful parks like the Dalseong Park, which is situated inside a 1500-year-old earth fortress and the Duryu Park, which has many walking trails as well as a large amusement park. All these are a big attraction for the visiting tourists. Besides in Taegu South Korea lies the Apsan, a mountain with trails, a Korean War museum, Buddhist temples, Palgongsan, which houses many historic Buddhist temples including Pagyesa and Donghwasa. Shopping in Taegu Korea is mainly concentrated in the downtown. It has a main shopping district which is called Dongseongno along with number of department stores.
Taegu Korea lies on a basin surrounded by low mountains, and this makes it hotter than the rest of Korea in summers as the hot air gets trapped and during the winters the cold air lies in the basin making it cold. This region gets little precipitation except during the rainy season of summer, and is sunny throughout much of the year. The Geumho River flows along the northern and eastern edges of the city.
Taegu South Korea by tradition sees people who are conservative, modest, hard working, and patient. Taegu is known as the home of Korean baseball, it even hosted the 2002 World Cup soccer game. Traditionally Buddhism was strong but today Christianity has gained its roots, and churches make up one of its cityscapes today. |
